There is no denying it, Mother’s Day will be quite different for most this year. While we may not be able to “gather” in the same way we normally would, there is still much we can do to show the moms in our lives how much they mean to us! Dads pay attention!
A Day at Spa “Maison”
If you have children living at home get them to help you treat their mommy to a Day at the Spa….at home! Ask “Alexa” or Google to play a spa mix and create a relaxing couple of hours for mom. A salt bath, maybe even a facial or manicure et voila! The kids will love getting involved and it will also give the woman of the day some much needed pampering. Maybe aim to take the kids out for a walk or drive to give Mom some peace and quiet for an hour too!
Mother’s Day Brunch
Maybe it is a family tradition of yours to do a family brunch at a restaurant on Mother’s Day. No need to stop the tradition this year…just alter it. While it is too late to order takeout from one of our awesome local restaurants you can still get to the grocery store and put together a brunch to end all brunches. Bacon, sausages, eggs and fresh bread. Adding fruit and perhaps a mimosa or two to the occasion will add the special touch you are looking for. Grab some flowers too and you are set!
A Social Distance Visit
If you live close by to your mom, walk or drive over and say hello from the driveway and deliver a hand written letter or flowers or both! We are craving connection so deeply right now and seeing someone, for even a short period of time has such an impact. If the weather is good it will give you all a chance to soak up some sunshine while you are at it.
Virtual Game Night
Now that you’ve treated mom to a special day it’s time to meet up with the extended family for a virtual game night! There is still lots of time to make this happen so here’s what you need to do:
Decide on the platform: whether it’s FaceTime, Messenger Video or Zoom just make sure you are all on the same page.
Pick a game: A really easy and fun for all ages would be Bingo! You can use a website like “My Free Bingo” cards to play a traditional game with a virtual caller, or you can play a custom Bingo game that revolves around a movie or TV show that your group plans to watch.
How will you be celebrating Mother’s Day this year?
